Andrew Bruce Architecture & Design follow the RIBA Plan of Work from project conception to completion. More information on the detail of these stages can be found here. A summary of the services provided is outlined below. 


In addition to working on our own projects, we also work hand in hand with other firms to successfully deliver projects of all scales and budgets, working closely with other Architects, Developers, Surveyors inetrior designers and Design and Build Contractors.

1. Preparation

  • Visit the property & carry out initial appraisal
  • Assist clients in preparing their requirements and project brief
  • Identify alternative solutions
  • Advise on need for services by consultants or specialists


2. Design

  • Measured Surveys and preparation of as built drawings of building and site
  • Arrange investigations of soil or structural conditions
  • Prepare preliminary designs for discussion with client
  • Design development
  • Submission of design proposals for detailed planning permission

3. Construction information

  • Co-ordination and integration of designs by others
  • Preparation of technical drawings for construction
  • Preparation of specification and/or schedule of works
  • Make application for Building Regulations approval
  • Advise on appropriate form of building contract, its conditions and responsibilities of client, architect and builder.
  • Preparation of documents required for tendering purposes
  • Advise on builders to be invited to tender
  • Invite, Appraise and report on tender returns


4. Construction Work

  • Advise on the appointment of a suitable contractor
  • Prepare the building contract and arrange to be signed by all parties
  • Contract administration throughout the construction stage
  • Provide contractor with information as requested
  • Visit site to check on progress and answer any questions
  • Certification of payments for work carried out or completed
  • Make final inspections and arrange for correction of any defects
  • Setlle final account and issue final completion certificate

Work is really flying along at a loft Conversion project in Twickenham TW2. Seen from the River Crane walk it's in a prime spot to showcase our work.  Hopefully this may lead to further work along this stretch.
